Lisa Tallman is a knowledge management strategist dedicated to social good. She is Sr. Director of Knowledge Management at YMCA of the USA, the national resource office for YMCA’s across the United States. She ensures YMCAs have access to knowledge, tools, and resources to collaborate to strengthen their local communities. Prior to joining the Y, Lisa worked for Grant Thornton, an accounting and advisory firm, where she was part of a team that instituted KM from scratch- developing processes, training team members to manage knowledge, and building a new technology platform.
She has spent almost 15 years defining and shaping knowledge management for both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Lisa earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Master’s Degree in English focused on Technical Communication from Eastern Michigan University. At Chicago Booth, she was chair of a student group that provided consulting services for nonprofits. This experience coupled with her work at the Y has allowed her to see how knowledge management adds value to large and small non-profits alike.
